Overview: This training will give you fundamentals when conducting Sexual assault Investigations, collecting information over the internet and conducting interviews. Sexual assault cases in the United States are often under reported and one reason is how the initial investigation handles the victim. Sexual assaults also sometimes begin with communications over the internet and it is important that you are able to identify how the case originated as well as collecting the information over the internet.
Audience: This training is for all investigators and initial responders so that evidence can be secured, collected and preserved. It's important to be able to gather information and evidence without contamination as well as providing for the victim.
Investigating Sexual assault cases involves not only being able to solve the case, it also involves using the proper investigative techniques as well as different interviewing and interrogation techniques.
Instructor: Lt. William Hough has over 24 years' experience investigating internet crimes, especially crimes against children. He is a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task force and assigned to the PROTECT (Prosecute and Restrain Offenders that Exploit Children Task Force) through the US Attorney Office, and has trained numerous officers and prosecutors in using the Internet as an investigative tool. He has also testified as an expert witness in several criminal cases involving Internet crimes. Lt. Hough is an APOSTC certified instructor.
This seminar is sponsored by AUM's Alabama Crime Prevention Clearinghouse & Training Institute, the Institute for Criminal Justice Education, Inc., Alabama Peace Officers Association, U.S. Attorney's Office, MDA, and ADECA Law Enforcement Planning/Traffic Safety Division.
