The 2024 Reverend Dr. Pauli Murray Quarter is the 11th coin in the American Women Quarters™ Program. Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray (1910 – 1985) was a poet, writer, activist, lawyer, and Episcopal priest. She earned degrees from Hunter College, Howard University Law School, the University of California Berkeley, and Yale Law School (the first African-American to receive a Doctor of Juridical Science degree). She became the first African-American woman to be ordained as an Episcopal priest in 1977.
