Are you using all the investigative tools available to solve crimes? Current law enforcement investigators need to access the vast resources available to them online in order to find people, prepare for interviews and organize their cases.
This training is for all those who need to use the Internet to enhance their investigative capabilities and includes a review of sites commonly used to gather investigative information and methods used to collect, prepare and present case information for prosecution.
Online information is being used more and more by defense attorneys. You need to check the same resources they do in order to present your best case and avoid courtroom surprises. This training will give you the edge you need to become proficient in the rapidly growing world of online investigations.
Instructor: Lt. William Hough has over 24 years' experience investigating internet crimes, especially crimes against children. He is a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task force and assigned to the PROTECT (Prosecute and Restrain Offenders that Exploit Children Task Force) through the US Attorney Office, and has trained numerous officers and prosecutors in using the Internet as an investigative tool. He has also testified as an expert witness in several criminal cases involving Internet crimes. Lt. Hough is an APOSTC certified instructor.
This seminar is sponsored by AUM's Alabama Crime Prevention Clearinghouse & Training Institute, the Institute for Criminal Justice Education, Inc., Alabama Peace Officers' Association, U.S. Attorney's Office, MDA, and ADECA Law Enforcement Planning/Traffic Safety Division. This training is funded by an ADECA Law Enforcement Planning subgrant #17-DJ-ST-004 awarded to AUM and its Alabama Crime Prevention Clearinghouse.
