Description: Since the 1980s, law enforcement officers have been trained in techniques of profiling cases of personal violence. While it takes years of experience and study to master all of the profiling techniques, there are some basic concepts that can be quickly learned and applied with a surprising level of accuracy.

In this one-day class officers will be shown how to:




  •  Identify some potential personality characteristics of the offender from the crime scene

  •  Use the profiling process to investigating violent crimes

  •  Select interview techniques for specific violent offenders

  •  Conduct a psychological crime scene analysis

  •  Prepare a criminal behavior assessment of selected violent crimes

  •  Profile the victim/s



Schedule: Registration check-in starts at 8:30 a.m. The training will meet from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. including a lunch break.

Instructor: Roger H. Humber, Special Agent, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, State Bureau of Investigation
Roger initially retired from the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center (ACJIC) in 2008 where he last served as the Deputy Director. He joined South University and was the Criminal Justice Program Director for eight years and currently is a full time adjunct with Purdue Global University. In October 2015, he returned to state government as a Retired State Employee where he supports Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's State Bureau of Investigation; with training, assisting with compliance issues, and investigative support. Roger holds both Bachelor and Master of Justice and Public Safety degrees. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army's Military Police School, the FBI's Southeastern Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar, and the FBI's National Academy. He is also a certified APOST instructor and also teaches Criminal Law, Report Writing, and Firearms Training.
