This course will focus on all important elements of World War II in a roughly chronological format, with each of the seven sessions devoted to one year of the seven-year war: 1939-1945. It will consider the causes; the major issues; the major political and military leaders, the strategies, the battles, the weapons, the moral questions, and the results. In each session, the first part will focus on events in Europe and Africa and the Mediterranean Sea, and the second part will focus on events of the same year in Asia and the Pacific. The attendees should receive a good review of the key lessons to learn from the war and also the opportunity to participate in class by answering and asking questions.
