This course will discuss the Hamas - Israeli War in terms of the historical causes and potential regional consequences. The perspectives of the two opposing sides, as well as U.S. perspective will be considered.  Since independence in 1948, Israel has enjoyed wide-spread American public support as well as U.S. diplomatic and military support.  However, the policies of the latest Netanyahu right-wing coalition government have resulted in further erosion of both general American public opinion in support of Israel as well as support in the American Jewish community.
