The 1950s and 1960s were perilous times in Montgomery amid the fervor for civil rights and voting rights. Rosa Parks, a black activist (1913 – 2005), and Virginia Durr, a white activist (1902 – 1999), forged a friendship when Jim Crow (segregation) laws ruled society. Each of these brave women took a courageous stand, knowing their lives were in danger, yet they remained determined in the fight for equal justice as they helped to change the nation.
“Rosa and Virginia” is the story of their friendship and activism in the early days of the big social movements when neither woman knew what tests lay ahead.
